The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) develops standards; certification bodies assess conformity with specified requirements; and accreditation bodies assess the competence of conformity assessment bodies for defined activities. In the UK, UKAS is the national accreditation body.<\/p>\n<p>LLOYDS RESEARCH COMPANY LTD develops and applies its own documented assessment schemes. A scheme may draw on relevant published standards and add further checks selected for the purpose of that assessment. The reference requirements and the company\u2019s additional criteria are identified separately, so applicants can see what each assessment covers.<\/p>\n<p>Our Additional Checks<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the scheme, additional checks may examine the quality of supporting evidence, how documented procedures work in practice, relevant operational risks, the handling of feedback or complaints, and the completion of corrective actions. These are not a fixed set applied to every applicant. The applicable checks, assessment method and evidence required are specified in the relevant scheme.<\/p>\n<p>This approach allows an assessment to examine defined aspects of a subject in greater detail or from additional perspectives where the scheme provides for it. The result reflects the particular criteria applied and the evidence reviewed.<\/p>\n<p>Choosing the Appropriate Scheme<\/p>\n<p>The starting point is to identify the applicant and the subject to be assessed: for example, an organisation, facility, service, process, product-related information or an individual\u2019s professional record. The applicable activities, locations and intended outcome are then defined.<\/p>\n<p>One applicant may request assessments under more than one scheme. Each assessment has its own criteria, scope and decision.
